Indonesia’s Central Statistics Agency has released its report on the tourism sector for 2024, marking a record-breaking year for the country. Bali remains the most popular destination for both domestic and international travelers.
From January to November 2024, 12.66 million foreign tourists visited Indonesia, reflecting a 20.7% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This is the highest number recorded in the past five years.
In November alone, 1.09 million tourists arrived in the country. While the final annual statistics will be confirmed next month, it is already evident that the total number of international visitors in 2024 will surpass 13 million.
As of December 29, 2024, Bali had welcomed 6.3 million international visitors, exceeding the pre-pandemic record of 6.2 million in 2019. The strongest influx has been from Australia, India, and China.
Looking ahead to 2025, Bali’s tourism sector has set a new target—6.5 million international arrivals.
Despite challenges such as heavy rains and natural disasters, Bali’s appeal remains strong. Moreover, during the Christmas and New Year holiday season, the number of tourists on the island increased by 20% compared to last year.
Ngurah Rai International Airport, the main entry point for visitors, celebrated the success of 2024 and welcomed 2025 in a special way.
On December 31, 2024, and January 1, 2025, arriving travelers were greeted with floral garlands, traditional Balinese dances, and live Gamelan orchestra performances, offering a festive start to the new year.
