Crackdown on Illegal Foreign Workers in Bali Continues

The Indonesian Immigration Service has launched the third phase of Operation Wira Waspada, aimed at identifying foreigners working without permits, especially in several industrial zones.
Since April 2025, checks have been conducted in Jakarta, Bali, Batam, Surabaya, and other regions. The first results have already been published. Immigration officers found 36 violations in Central Sulawesi - foreign employees did not have residence permits allowing them to work in Indonesia. The investigation is currently ongoing.
During the raids, immigration services check visas, work permits (KITAS, KITAP, IMTA), identify illegal employment, especially in tourism, construction, and IT sectors, and track employers hiring foreigners without official permission. Special attention is given to co-working spaces, social media activities, and freelance platforms. Authorities also accept anonymous tips from locals about potential violations.
Foreigners caught working illegally face deportation, and employer companies face hefty fines. Indonesia welcomes qualified specialists but demands strict compliance with the law.
