Collapse on Gilimanuk Route, Truck Access Blocked

On one of Bali's main transport arteries, the national road connecting the Gilimanuk port and Denpasar, a section of the road suddenly collapsed. Traffic is under threat as only a narrow strip of asphalt is left of the road.

This highway is already a 'bottleneck': only two lanes regularly create long traffic jams. Construction of a new bypass road has already begun, but the completion date has not yet been announced.
The collapse occurred at the 92nd kilometer, near the village of Candi Kusuma. To prevent traffic chaos, the Jembrana district traffic police have imposed temporary restrictions. According to AKP I Gede Gegag, head of the traffic police, drivers of heavy trucks are advised to transfer their loads to pickups and lighter trucks to pass through the damaged section.
These measures will remain in place until the repair is completed. Authorities ask drivers to be understanding of the situation: this is the only way to maintain traffic and ensure uninterrupted supplies to the island.
