The Indonesian government is launching a pilot project to promote the concept of “clean tourism” in Bali. This initiative aims to improve the environmental conditions and support the tourism industry.
Indonesia’s tourism destinations rank 86th out of 114 countries in terms of health and hygiene, according to the Tourism and Travel Development Index.
Clean tourism is a step towards enhancing Bali’s image as a global tourism hub. The program demonstrates Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining ecological balance and fostering a responsible approach to travel. The project includes practical measures such as improving waste management infrastructure, educating local communities, and implementing standards to ensure the cleanliness of beaches, public spaces, and natural attractions.
As part of the program, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is focusing on eight key tourist areas. The ministry encourages efforts to improve the quality and attractiveness of tourist destinations across Indonesia.
During a beach cleanup at Kedonganan Beach, Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa highlighted, “This movement will eventually establish a clean waste management system and raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness.”
An island renowned for its natural beauty and unique culture is now being given the opportunity to become a model of responsible ecosystem preservation. The program emphasizes the importance of collaborative efforts: the government, businesses, and local residents are working together to make the island cleaner and more appealing.
