The Denpasar administration has launched a large-scale project to move overhead communication cables to underground channels of the SJUT telecommunication infrastructure.

The first phase was ceremonially launched on September 30 in Sanur: Denpasar's Deputy Mayor I Kadek Arya Vibhava laid the first stone on Jalan Danau Buyan. According to him, the project's goal is to remove chaotic cables that spoil the city's appearance, especially in tourist areas.
The construction is being carried out by the municipal company Perumda Bhukti Praja Sewakadarma based on the mayor's decree No. 31 of 2024. The first phase plans to lay 10.5 kilometers of underground channels in two clusters. The cost of works for Sanur and several streets of Denpasar is estimated at 45–50 billion rupiahs. In the future, part of the expenses will be borne by the communication providers themselves.
The first cluster covers Sanur: Danau Buyan, Danau Toba, and Danau Tamblingan streets up to the Banjar Semawang intersection. Completion is targeted by December 22, 2025. The second cluster will be laid in downtown Denpasar — on nine streets, including Gajah Mada, Udayana, Sudirman, and others.
After the launch, providers will gradually move their cables underground, and new projects will immediately comply with the authorities' requirements. This will not only enhance the city's appearance but also increase safety.
