In the tourist area of Ubud, a 41-year-old Russian citizen with the initials T.R. was found dead in the Ubudon guesthouse on January 27th. Staff were concerned because the light in his room had been on since the evening, so they went to check.
The day before, the staff heard cries for help from the room. When they entered, the man was alive: he was sitting cross-legged on the floor and was in a towel. The staff decided that he was not in danger and left.
The Ubud police and Gianyar district forensic experts arrived at the scene. A doctor from Puskesmas Ubud I clinic suggested cardiac arrest after an external examination. The exact cause of death will be determined after further medical procedures. No signs of violence, struggle, or damage were found in the room.
The man had been living at the location since June 2025, extending his stay each month. The body will be processed according to procedures for foreigners. The police will remain in contact with relevant services and the Russian embassy.
