Foreigner Kidnapped in Bali: One Held, Six Still Wanted

Bali Police are investigating the alleged kidnapping of 28-year-old Ukrainian national Ihor Komarov. One foreign national with the initials CH has been detained in West Nusa Tenggara. Police describe him as the person who rented a Toyota Avanza and two motorbikes linked to the case. He is believed to be a Nigerian citizen.

Six other foreign nationals have been named as suspects (RM, BK/VK, AS, VN, SM and DH). Authorities are preparing to add them to the wanted list and to issue international notices via Interpol. Some may have left Indonesia via Ngurah Rai Airport, while investigators believe two are still in the country.
Police also commented separately on the discovery of human remains on 26 February in the Ketewel area (Gianyar Regency). On social media, this has been linked to Komarov’s case, but police stress that the victim’s identity has not yet been established.
A forensic identification is under way, including DNA comparison with samples from the missing man’s family. Until the expert reports are available, police are not confirming that the discovery is connected to the kidnapping case.

Police say their priority is to determine the whereabouts of everyone involved and bring the case to court. If you have any information that could help the investigation, you are asked to pass it on via the official police contacts by calling 110 or by visiting the nearest police station.
Update (March 6): Bali Police announced that DNA analysis has confirmed the identity of the remains discovered on February 26 in Ketewel, Gianyar. According to authorities, they belong to 28-year-old Ukrainian citizen Ihor Komarov.

The case of the abduction of Ukrainian citizen Ihor Komarov in Bali has taken a new turn. Bali police said that seven foreign nationals from four countries are now implicated in the case. Six have been placed on Interpol’s wanted list, and another suspect, a Nigerian national, was arrested with the assistance of immigration authorities. The investigators’ account has also hardened: it is now being treated not just as an abduction, but as a premeditated murder.

According to police, the crime was not spontaneous. Investigators say the group had been targeting the victim for at least a month before the attack: the suspects followed him and surveyed several locations, including the villa where he lived.

The key episode took place at a villa in Gianyar: blood traces, witness statements and the car’s GPS data point to it. It was there, according to investigators, that the killing happened, after which body parts were transported and dumped in the areas of Sukawati and Ketewel Beach.

Police have not yet disclosed a motive. It is only known that the identities of all suspects have already been established, and their suspected last known locations outside Indonesia are being tracked through international channels.
