Today, around 16:00, a power outage occurred across all areas of Bali. Preliminary reports suggest it was caused by a malfunction in the extra high-voltage transmission line (SUTET) at the main Pemaron substation.

According to PLN, the outage was due to damage to the Java-Bali underwater cable. This cable is a crucial element in supplying electricity to the island. Meanwhile, PLN UID Bali representative Anom Silaparta reported that the exact cause of the disruption is still being investigated.
The outage made it impossible to supply electricity from the substation in Gilimanuk to Bali. All power plants in Bali were automatically disconnected from the system, leading to blackouts in areas such as Denpasar, Badung, Jembrana, Karangasem, and Buleleng.
"We apologize for the inconvenience caused. We have received your report and inform you that there was a disruption in the high-voltage transmission line at the Pemaron GI substation, resulting in a power outage across Bali. Investigations are currently underway, and an exact recovery time cannot yet be determined," stated the notification from the Gianyar substation.

The power outage disrupted people's daily routines, especially in offices. Traffic jams occurred due to non-functioning traffic lights, with police officers manually directing traffic. Motorcycles could navigate through, but cars and trucks faced more difficulties.
Currently, PLN staff are continuing to inspect and restore the system before normalizing distribution. In some areas, power has already been partially restored.
It is hoped that this incident will draw serious attention to the island's power supply crisis. The last similar incident on Bali occurred in 2018.
