Bali has launched the Beer for Beaches campaign — 'beach cleanup + relaxation'. First, participants collect trash on the shore, then hang out together over a pint of beer.

The initiative originated from Pemuteran in the northwest of Bali and the local movement Plastic-Free Pemuteran. The team regularly collects, sorts, and records waste to prevent trash from ending up in ditches and the ocean.
Participants visit a chosen beach, walk along the tide line for 30–45 minutes picking up trash with tongs into bags, and then they stay to chat and have a beer. If it rains, the sorting continues under a roof.
Organizers emphasize that in these meetings, 100% of the proceeds from beer sales go to Plastic-Free Pemuteran through the account of the village enterprise BUMDes to support daily beach cleaning.

Meetings have already taken place at the beaches of Kedungu, Pemuteran, as well as in Jakarta and Uluwatu. The project aims to 'move along the coast' — holding cleanups month by month in new locations, maintaining the same format.
For tourists and expats in Bali, it's another way to participate in beach cleanup without complicated organization: a short group cleanup followed by relaxation. Alcohol is available only to participants aged 21+.
How to join: Organizers ask to follow announcements on the Instagram account @beachesbeerbali. Participation is free, drinks are sold on-site.
