In the center of Denpasar, at zero kilometer, the iconic monument Puputan of Badung has been restored.

It depicts three fighters raising weapons—a symbol of the last battle of the locals against the colonizers. The name roughly translates to 'fight to the end.' The square is dedicated to the events of 1902 when the Raja of Badung, his entire family, and subjects went into the final battle against the Dutch colonial forces.
The monument was cleaned, reinforced, and details were restored. The work was completed on November 9, but the opening was decided to be held later, on November 14, which is the day of Sugihan Bali, considered auspicious for ceremonies.
After the opening, the monument will be accessible to all residents and guests of the city. The reconstruction was handled by Denpasar artist Marmar Herayukti.
