Beauty experts in Bali note that the island’s potential is becoming increasingly evident, thanks to the growing number of tourists seeking skincare treatments that combine cutting-edge medical technologies with natural local ingredients.
Currently, Ayurvedic practices are highly popular among both locals and international visitors. In Ubud, many tourists turn to these methods, using skincare products made from natural components infused with medical elements.
Tari, a specialist and educator in the healthcare field, believes that Bali has immense potential, as the natural ingredients used in aesthetic cosmetology are part of the island’s rich natural resources. Moreover, these ingredients have long been used in traditional Balinese medicine.
For instance, she highlighted the rising trend of microneedling treatments, where serums are crafted from medicinal plants, as well as turmeric-based masks used for acne treatment.
“K-Beauty is trending worldwide, but Bali has the potential to become a hub for global aesthetics—B-Beauty. Our uniqueness lies not only in medical advancements but also in our natural beauty and cultural heritage, which already incorporates skincare rituals using natural ingredients. This is a major competitive advantage on the global stage,” she said.

Dr. Chandrawati Santoso, an anti-aging medicine specialist, added that more foreign tourists are coming to Bali in search of traditional healing practices. She believes that Bali’s rich wellness traditions could position the island as a center for holistic beauty, merging medical and cosmetic techniques.
A key factor in the growth of Bali’s beauty industry is the development of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Sanur, which the Indonesian Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises is planning to establish as a hub for aesthetic medicine.
Recently, the Beautiverse event took place in Sanur, bringing together beauty industry experts and enthusiasts. Beautiverse Project Manager Hannah Ristya explained that the event integrates aesthetics with wellness.
“Companies showcase not just products but also interactive activities, such as skin condition analysis, makeup masterclasses, perfume and diffuser creation, as well as outdoor experiences like running and meditation,” she said.
Beautiverse also focuses on promoting local beauty brands, including startups and small businesses (UMKM), with 70% of the exhibition booths occupied by local brands.
