The Badung government plans to transform 4.2 hectares of the Benoa Lagoon into a modern eco-park. This area is part of the Ngurah Rai Nature Reserve, so the green space will be located right in the heart of the developed South Kuta.

The head of the South Kuta administration, I Ketut Gede Arta, states their intent to create a safe, comfortable, and inclusive public space. Not just a lawn with benches, but a multifunctional area with proper infrastructure.
The park will feature networking areas, sports zones, educational sections about Balinese flora and fauna, family-friendly spaces, and small business corners. An integrated parking facility is planned to reduce road congestion and improve access for both residents and tourists.
The park is envisioned as an educational center: a place to learn about local nature and culture, see Balinese plants and animals in a nearly natural environment, and discover elements of Balinese tradition in the landscape.
South Kuta already has enough hotels, villas, and shopping centers, but there is a lack of green public spaces. The new park aims to correct this imbalance, allowing people to enjoy nature without having to travel far.
The 'Lagoon' Eco-park is promised to become a 'highlight' of the area — modern and open to all. Authorities emphasize that they are considering not just hotels, but also the quality of urban environments. This long-term project serves as an example of how a resort area can remain green and sustainable.
The opening dates have not been announced yet, as the park is still in the planning stage. However, the fact that the Badung authorities are focusing on green public spaces can already be seen as a positive sign.
