New Direct Bus Connects Bali and Jakarta

From 6 March 2026, a new, more comfortable direct DAMRI bus will start running between Bali and Jakarta via the Tol Trans Java toll road. You can now travel from Denpasar to the capital without flying—affordably and hassle-free, with luggage and no transfers, enjoying Java’s scenic landscapes from the window.

Departures from Denpasar are on Sundays at 16:00 from the Damri terminal. Along the way, the bus passes Ketapang, Situbondo, Probolinggo, Semarang and Cirebon, and then arrives in Jakarta (Kemayoran station). In the opposite direction, from Jakarta to Bali, services run on Fridays at 16:00. Tickets start from 590,000 rupiah.
The journey takes around 20–24 hours, depending on traffic, weather conditions and the ferry crossing time from Bali to Java. So, with a Sunday 16:00 departure, the estimated arrival in Jakarta is on Monday between 12:00 and 16:00. Delays are possible due to traffic.
For comparison, the cheapest flight on this route costs 900,000 rupiah, but takes under two hours.
Passengers can choose between two classes: Executive (2–2 seating) and the roomier Royal (2–1, with wide ‘captain’ seats and extra legroom). The buses have air conditioning, USB ports, a toilet, an entertainment system and CCTV. Two meals are included during the trip.

This option is especially convenient for those travelling to Jakarta on business—for example, to visit an embassy for paperwork. You can take more belongings, not worry about your luggage, and rest comfortably on the way.
Tickets are available via the official DAMRI app and on damri.co.id, as well as via the Denpasar office WhatsApp: +6282144558915. During peak season, it’s best to book in advance.
How to get from Kemayoran station to Jl. H.R. Rasuna Said
From the DAMRI Kemayoran station to the Rasuna Said area (where many embassies are located), the easiest option is to take TransJakarta buses with a transfer in the centre—for example, at the Pasar Senen stop. Travel time is about 45–60 minutes if traffic isn’t too heavy. You can also use a taxi or ride-hailing apps; the trip usually takes 25–40 minutes depending on traffic. This way, if you arrive in Jakarta on Monday evening and stay overnight at a hotel near the embassy, you can head to your consular appointment in the morning feeling well rested. Wednesday and Thursday can be spent exploring Jakarta and Bogor, and on Friday you can return to Bali on the same bus.
