The Badung authorities continue their campaign against illegal constructions in coastal zones. From July to October 2025, law enforcement officers conducted eight operations to dismantle and seal off structures built with violations.

The most notable incident occurred in Canggu, where workers occupied part of the riverbed during the construction of a luxurious villa. 'On October 7, we arrived on site following a complaint from residents. This is a serious violation — the building encroaches on the water protection zone and even into the riverbed,' said the head of Satpol PP Badung, I Gusti Agung Ketut Suryanegara.
Members of the Region's Parliamentary Commissions I and II arrived on site, demanding immediate demolition. According to Suryanegara, the owner was previously issued three official warnings, after which he began voluntarily dismantling the structures exceeding his property title.

Since July, several similar cases have been identified. The first was a building on Raya Sading Street (Mengwi), which narrowed the riverbed. In September, violations were found in the residential complex Dalung Permai and in Sibang Gede village (Abiansemal), where restricting tapes were installed. On September 23, a vacant former dormitory building in Dalung (North Kuta), located in a water protection zone, was inspected.
On September 29, a structure on Munduk Batu Belah Street in Pererenan was sealed off.
On October 14, inspectors' attention was drawn to an object in Kerobokan, where a developer had arbitrarily altered the riverbed. The owner was summoned to the police, and the foundation of the retaining wall in Pererenan was dismantled by the owner himself.

'We will not turn a blind eye. All those who violate water protection zone rules must provide permits. Most cases are related to construction that narrows riverbeds. We will continue our monitoring,' emphasized Suryanegara.
He noted that the district administration, led by Bhupati I Wayan Adi Arnawa, intends to firmly clamp down on such practices, especially in areas designated as green corridors and natural routes.
