In Bali, a woman with the initials D.G. became a victim of domestic violence committed by her husband, A.G. Both are foreigners from Ukraine who came to Indonesia.
The mother of three children was beaten nearly to death and is now suffering from severe trauma. The incident was reported to the Badung District Police on February 15 but only came to light now due to the victim's lawyer.
Currently, the case is under investigation by criminal investigators, as reported by Badung Police spokesperson Inda Putu Sukarma on May 30. The incident took place at a playground near the villa where the woman and her husband were residing in the South Kuta area. The reasons and motives behind the assault remain unknown. The victim sustained numerous bruises on her face and body.
The victim's lawyer, Agus Sujoko, stated that the woman is now experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder. She is avoiding her husband and, as a result, is unable to meet with her three children who need her care.
Sujoko expressed hope that the investigation will help prevent similar incidents in the future and protect others from domestic violence. "Those who commit such crimes must be held accountable before the law. We await a fair resolution of this case and hope that the victim receives the support and protection she needs," the lawyer concluded.
