Jakarta is well-known for its severe congestion and frequent traffic jams, particularly during peak hours.
With a high volume of vehicles, ongoing road construction, and rapid urban growth, even short trips can become tests of patience.
Thankfully, there's a more efficient way to
avoid Jakarta's notorious traffic: the Railink train service.
This convenient option provides a fast and smooth connection between the city
centre and Soekarno-Hatta Airport, offering a welcome escape from the gridlock.
For example, if you're traveling
from the modern Kuningan area—known for its skyscrapers, upscale wine bars,
cocktail lounges, live music venues, and chic fashion malls—head to Stasiun
Sudirman Baru Train Station.
At the station, go to the upper
floor where you'll find ticket booths. A ticket for the journey to
Soekarno-Hatta Airport costs 70,000 IDR, and payment is accepted by card.
If you only have cash, station staff can purchase the ticket for you using their
card, and you can reimburse them in cash.
Trains run on a set schedule with
intervals of about 30 minutes. Note that early access to the platform is not
allowed; the gates open about 15 minutes before departure, so you will need to
wait in the designated area until then.
The journey from Stasiun Sudirman
Baru Train Station to Soekarno-Hatta Airport takes approximately one hour.
The trains are new, offering
comfortable reclining seats, air conditioning, and clean facilities, with each
seat equipped with a USB charging port.
Upon arrival, follow the signs
for the airport express, which connects to Terminals 1, 2, and 3. The airport
express operates frequently, and it takes about two minutes to reach Terminal 1.
