Good news for anyone planning to climb Mount Rinjani but not keen to pay extra for a private transfer or ride to Lombok by motorbike.

From 10 April 2026, government-run tourist buses (KSPN) were officially launched on Lombok, linking the airport and main terminals with the “gateway” to Rinjani — the village of Sembalun.
Main routes and timetable
ROUTE: AIRPORT (BIZAM) — SEMBALUN
(via Jalan Segara Anak)
From the airport to Sembalun:
• Departure: 07:00 -> Arrival: 10:30
• Departure: 08:00 -> Arrival: 11:30
• Departure: 09:00 -> Arrival: 12:30
From Sembalun to the airport:
• Departure: 11:00 -> Arrival: 14:30
• Departure: 12:00 -> Arrival: 15:30
• Departure: 13:00 -> Arrival: 16:30
Ticket price: 20,700 IDR
ROUTE: MANDALIKA TERMINAL — SEMBALUN
(via Mataram, Senggigi Harbour, Bangsal Harbour)
From the terminal to Sembalun:
• Departure: 06:00 -> Arrival: 10:00
• Departure: 07:00 -> Arrival: 11:00
• Departure: 08:00 -> Arrival: 12:00
From Sembalun to the terminal:
• Departure: 10:30 -> Arrival: 14:30
• Departure: 11:30 -> Arrival: 15:30
• Departure: 12:30 -> Arrival: 16:30
Ticket price: 25,600 IDR.
These prices are a real bargain compared with a private taxi, which usually costs 400,000–600,000 IDR.
While the system is still being trialled, you can buy your ticket directly from the driver when boarding.
Booking via WhatsApp is also available: +62 811-3901-2856
A few tips:
1. Arrive early — it’s a government-run service, so it’s best to be there 15–20 minutes before departure.
2. We recommend messaging on WhatsApp in advance to confirm seat availability, especially if you’re travelling as a group.
3. Route: the bus from the airport goes via Jalan Segara Anak.
The bus launch coincided with the start of the new Rinjani hiking season. All routes reopened on 1 April after a three-month closure for the rainy season and ecosystem recovery. Sembalun remains the main and most popular entry point: on the first day after reopening, 370 out of 458 registered tourists used it.

The climb still requires a separate booking via the E-Rinjani app: Rinjani has a daily quota of 700 people.
