Meteorologists warn that the heaviest rains in Bali are expected in January–February 2026. Floods, landslides, and mudflows are possible. To mitigate risks, the Emergency Agency has already prepared maps of areas likely to experience floods.

It's advised to check the condition of rivers, clear silted and narrowed sections, and temporarily halt construction on slopes where landslides are a risk.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster has instructed special attention to be paid to four major rivers — Ayung, Badung, Mati, and Unda. Plans include clearing riverbeds, restoring forests, and dismantling structures hindering the natural flow of water.
According to Koster, the island's strategy is based on the principle of harmony with nature and includes the protection of water sources — rivers, lakes, and springs. Residents will also partake in these activities, including through traditions like the Tumpek Wariga festival when people clean rivers and plant trees.
