A 48-year-old Russian woman, identified by the initials N.K., has been detained on suspicion of violating immigration regulations. She was providing cosmetic services without a license in two widely separated locations—hotels in Jakarta and Bali.
She was arrested by immigration intelligence and control officers at Bali’s International Airport while attempting to leave Indonesia for Singapore.
The arrest was the result of an investigation by the immigration cyber unit, which identified violations related to misuse of her visa. Simply put, digital investigators discovered her advertisements online, leading to the crackdown.
During a search, authorities confiscated various cosmetic tools, both used and new, which matched the services she had been promoting on her social media accounts.
According to immigration records, N.K. entered Indonesia through Jakarta International Airport on February 7, 2025, using a Visa on Arrival (VOA). This type of visa is strictly for tourism, social visits, and business meetings, but does not permit employment or business activities.
Currently, N.K. is being held at the Bali Airport Immigration Detention Center, where officials are deciding her fate. Deportation and blacklisting are almost certain outcomes.
Authorities in Indonesia continue to crack down on illegal workers, with recent cases including the deportation of two Chinese nationals who were working as unlicensed diving instructors.
