The Bali National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) conducted a raid on a villa in Canggu where a sex party involving illegal substances was taking place. The event, disguised as a Christmas and New Year celebration, involved 50 foreigners, most of whom were Russian nationals.
During questioning, the detainees claimed it was just an ordinary celebration for Christmas and the New Year of 2025. However, authorities had information that the event required an entry fee (approximately 3.5 million IDR) and was accessible only via special invitations sent through WhatsApp and VKontakte.
While the invitations did not explicitly indicate the event’s sexual nature, the raid uncovered sex toys, lubricants, and condoms, which were presumed to be leftovers from the party. The event was held behind closed doors and attracted both singles and couples, most of whom were strangers to each other.
During the search, sniffer dogs discovered psychotropic substances, including THC-based and benzo-type drugs, hidden between the cushions of a sofa. Out of nine foreigners tested for drugs, one Russian national tested positive for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol, the active compound in marijuana), while seven others tested positive for benzodiazepines.
Benzodiazepines are a class of sedative drugs used to treat anxiety disorders, insomnia, and panic attacks. They can also be used as muscle relaxants to alleviate stiffness or spasms.
As a result of the operation, two individuals were detained: the Russian organizer who tested positive for THC and a woman with the initials V.K., who was responsible for sending out the invitations (her drug test was negative).
The remaining foreign attendees were released and sent home after their identities were verified.
The BNNP is now coordinating with immigration authorities to determine penalties for the organizers and continues its investigation into the case.
