Petrol Queues Haven’t Stopped Tourists from Coming to Bali

Petrol supply disruptions in mid-October did not reduce the flow of tourists to Bali. From 1 to 18 October, 401,652 foreigners flew in, an average of 22,314 a day, roughly the same as in September.

According to the provincial tourism office, no one officially reported cancelling a trip to the island. Some tours had to be rescheduled or rerouted.
The island's governor, Wayan Koster, also describes the flow as stable. According to his figures, between 19 and 24 thousand foreign tourists arrive in Bali every day. He said some high-end hotels are at 90% occupancy or higher.
According to Bali's statistics bureau, 685,994 foreign tourists came directly to the island in August, about 22 thousand a day. Average occupancy at star-rated hotels that month was 68%.

In the first eight months of 2026, 4.59 million foreign tourists came to Bali, 1.6% fewer than in the same period a year earlier. Last year, however, beat pre-pandemic numbers: there were 6.95 million foreign visitors in 2025, compared with 6.28 million in 2019.
