New Details in the Drug Villa Case in Canggu. The Suspects have been Detained

The story of the drug lab recently discovered by police in Canggu, has developed further. As previously reported, the National Police's Criminal Investigation Department uncovered a powerful underground lab producing hydroponic marijuana and other drugs in a rented villa. The villa had been leased for 24 years and 8 months. The lab was uncovered because police had placed an Indonesian citizen with the initials L.M.under surveillance. He had evaded police during a raid on a drug factory in the Sunter area of Jakarta.

In Bali, this Indonesian started collaborating with foreigners from Russia and Ukraine. The investigation largely focused on tracking packages sent by the suspect. Police Commissioner General Wahyu Widada stated that authorities traced four locations for the delivery of chemical precursors, one of which was a drug factory in North Kuta.
Before the raid, a special team investigated the case for two months. A total of four suspects were arrested, including two Ukrainian nationals who were caught at the luxury villa-lab in Canggu. Interestingly, they turned out to be twin brothers. They managed and controlled the production process and also manufactured some drugs themselves. The police seized 9.8 kilograms of hydroponically grown marijuana and 437 grams of mephedrone. Additionally, hundreds of kilograms of various chemical precursors for making drugs like mephedrone and hydroponic marijuana, along with various lab equipment, were found at the site.
The next suspect is a Russian citizen with the initials K.K. He was arrested in the Gianyar area (Ubud), where he was involved in distribution. At the time of his arrest, he was found in possession of a significant amount of illegal substances: 382.19 grams of marijuana, 484.92 grams of hashish, 107.85 grams of cocaine, and 247.33 grams of mephedrone. L.M. himself was also arrested; he was renting an apartment in South Denpasar and was found with 6 kilograms of marijuana.
In addition to these four individuals, the police are also searching for two more suspects, R.N. and O.K., who are Ukrainian nationals.
The suspects are charged under Article 114, paragraph 2, auxiliary Article 113, paragraph 2, Article 112, paragraph 2, Article 129A, and Article 111, paragraph 2, in conjunction with Article 132, paragraph 1, of Law No. 35 of 2009 of the Republic of Indonesia concerning narcotics. The minimum sentence is 5 years in prison, and the maximum is the death penalty, along with fines ranging from 1 billion to 10 billion rupiah.
The drug networks, controlled by foreigners from Ukraine and Russia, used the Telegram app. They created groups within the app named bali hydra bot, cannashop robot, bali crystal bot, hydra indonesia manager, and cannashop mentor, where they conducted transactions using cryptocurrency. Buyers received coordinates with photos to locate the stash. Over six months, the network managed to generate a profit of around 4 billion rupiah. Advertisements on Bali's streets will remain a reminder of the gang's activities for some time.
In April, the Denpasar Police Narcotics Investigation Department managed to arrest 35 different drug dealers. Chief Commissioner Wisnu Prabowo of Denpasar Police reported that these 35 individuals were couriers in 24 cases handled by the Denpasar Police over the past month. Among those arrested, nine were women.
Chief of the Denpasar Police Narcotics Division, Commissioner Yogi Pramagita, noted that the number of female suspects is increasing each month, often due to their desire to maintain a luxurious lifestyle. The police confiscated 168.04 grams of methamphetamine, 337 ecstasy tablets weighing 94.21 grams, 396.77 grams of cannabis, and 3.85 grams of synthetic tobacco from the arrested individuals.
Wisnu explained that most of the evidence belonged to suspects D.A.R. (27 years old) and M.A. (27 years old), who were found with 108 packets of methamphetamine, 15 ecstasy tablets, and two packets of marijuana. The pair, both Indonesian citizens, were arrested in a boarding house in Gang Mawar, South Denpasar. The suspects have been charged under Article 111, facing imprisonment of 4 to 12 years.
