An illegal mephedrone production lab has been found in Bali. Indonesia’s National Narcotics Agency said the operation took place in Gianyar on 5–6 March.

Russian nationals with the initials N.T. and T.S. were detained. Another suspect is still wanted. The operation was carried out together with customs, immigration and the Bali police.
The investigation began back in January after suspicious parcels from China were sent to a post office in Gianyar using false details. On the evening of 5 March, officers detained a woman with the initials N.T. at a villa in the Sukawati area. Investigators then traced another location in Blahbatuh, where they found chemicals and equipment for illegal production.
The location of the operation is specified as The Lavana De'Bale Marcapada in Pering, Gianyar. The group had almost 7.8 kilograms of mephedrone (gross weight) seized, as well as 2.6 kilograms of solid precursors and 219,780 millilitres of liquid precursors.
Laboratory tests confirmed it was mephedrone, which in Indonesia is classified as a Category I narcotic.
