Badung has already appeared several times in cases involving illegal production linked to international drug networks. Rather than waiting for further raids after the fact, the narcotics unit will more actively map risk areas, carry out cyber patrols, and inspect suspicious properties. Police are counting on support from villages, local security teams, and residents.
One of the most high-profile cases took place in May 2024 in Tibubeneng. An illegal laboratory and a hydroponic plantation were found at the Sunny Village complex. Mephedrone was being produced there, and cannabis was being grown. The seized goods were valued at around 11.5 billion rupiah.
Another major raid took place in November 2024 in the Uluwatu area. At a villa in Ungasan, police discovered the production of hashish and Happy Five pills. Four people were arrested, and the value of the seized substances and raw materials was estimated at more than 1.5 trillion rupiah.
