In Bali, water is believed to hold a special power — to cleanse not only the body, but also the mind, wash away negative energy, and help you let go of the past.

This belief lies at the heart of melukat, an ancient Balinese purification ritual traditionally performed at sacred springs and waterfalls. Today, taking part in melukat is one of the most memorable ways to experience the spiritual traditions of the island.
The ceremony takes place in Sebatu, a sacred site hidden among lush tropical greenery and deeply revered by local people. Before entering the water, you will take part in a traditional ritual with incense and flower offerings. Then you will step beneath the cool waters of the waterfall. Balinese people believe that its sacred water helps release troubling thoughts, clear the mind, and restore inner energy.

The journey also includes a visit to Tirta Empul, one of Bali’s most famous water temples. Its natural springs are considered sacred, and for generations Balinese people have come here to perform traditional water purification rituals.

Another stop is the 25-meter-high Tegenungan Waterfall, surrounded by dense tropical vegetation. From there, you will continue to the famous Tegallalang Rice Terraces. You will discover how rice is grown in Bali and learn about the island’s traditional irrigation system, stroll through the emerald-green terraces, take beautiful photos, and have the opportunity to enjoy lunch overlooking the rice fields.
