The Indonesian Immigration Service has announced the issuance of a five-year multiple-entry visa for tourism and business purposes. It allows entry into the country for up to 60 days per visit. However, it is not specified how often these two-month periods can be used - there are currently no limitations.
This visa aims to facilitate the entry of foreigners into Indonesia for both business and tourism purposes. It will have two indexes, D1 and D2. The multiple-entry visa with index D1 can be used for tourism purposes, while the same type of visa with index D2 is intended for business purposes. Both visa types are granted for a period of up to 60 days upon each arrival.
The cost of the new visa is 15 million Indonesian Rupiah.
Requirements for obtaining the five-year multiple-entry visa include:
- An invitation from the Indonesian side,
- A passport valid for at least 6 months,
- A statement of having at least $2,000 in the bank accounts,
- Submission of a recent color photograph.
The visa allows:
- Attending conferences, exhibitions, and meetings as a participant,
- Organizing tourism-related events,
- Visiting relatives and friends.
However, holders of such visas are not allowed to engage in income-generating work or business in Indonesia, indicating that this option is likely designed more for digital nomads.
As for invitations, preliminary information suggests that friends and relatives of travelers in Indonesia can issue them by submitting a letter of application. For those without contacts in Bali, visa agents will likely offer such a service.
Visa applications will be accepted online starting from January 2024.
