Denpasar Begins Removing Illegal Advertisements

Bali's Municipal Police (Satpol PP) conducted an operation in central Denpasar aimed at tackling illegal outdoor advertising.

During the operation, officers removed structures that were installed without permission on sidewalks, poles, trees, and other locations. All of them spoiled the appearance, interfered with infrastructure, and traffic.
This time, patrols took to the streets of Dewi Sartika, Teuku Umar, Pulau Kawe, and Raya Pemogan. Authorities found 25 posters, 38 banners, 40 flags, and 4 billboards. Their owners violated placement rules.
The head of Denpasar's Satpol PP, Anak Agung Ngurah Bawa Nendra, explained that the aim of the campaign is to ensure compliance with city regulations on order and city design.
He emphasized: “Placing advertising structures in unsuitable locations spoils the city's appearance and can threaten road traffic safety. We welcome individuals installing advertisements to undergo all permit procedures and place structures only in approved areas.

In addition to dismantling, Satpol staff conducted educational work, explaining to citizens and entrepreneurs the requirements for placing advertisements.
Last year, authorities massively dismantled advertising structures along the streets of Teuku Umar, Imam Bonjol, and Sesetan. Dozens of illegally installed banners and billboards were removed. Some of them had expired permits.
Interestingly, in some cases (especially during election periods), the authorities made exceptions — and did not touch the banners of political parties if the campaign conformed to rules. Even if they were placed in unauthorized locations.
