Indonesia’s Ministry of Health states clearly that H3N2 is a seasonal flu virus that circulates every year. According to WHO assessments and surveillance data, this variant has so far not shown greater severity or led to an increase in hospitalisations.
Two cases have been officially confirmed in Bali. Both were in Denpasar back in October 2025. By the time the Bali Health Department issued its statement, the patients had already recovered and returned to normal life. No similar symptoms were found among their close contacts.
The highest number of cases was reported in East Java, with 25, followed by South Kalimantan with 22 and Jakarta with 14. The deaths mentioned in the report were not in Bali, but in West Java, Jakarta and Central Java.
The Health Ministry notes that the flu trend in Indonesia has been declining over the past three months, while the share of positive tests has been falling for the past 12 weeks.
Thermal scanners are in operation at Ngurah Rai Airport. This is a standard early screening measure, not a sign of quarantine or a dangerous outbreak. There are no restrictions for tourists and no H3N2 quarantine in Bali.
