Discover Balinese Cuisine: Take a Cooking Class

A great way to get acquainted with the local cuisine is to take a cooking class and learn the secrets behind traditional dishes.

At the Kekeb restaurant you'll be introduced to local produce, spices and recipes, and then cook several dishes together with the chef.
First you'll head to a local market to see which ingredients go into Balinese cooking and to buy everything you need. The market has an atmosphere all its own: you can see what's sold there and what the locals choose, get a feel for prices, and discover unusual ingredients and spices. This is one of the most interesting parts of the class and a chance to glimpse everyday life on the island.
The menu includes mie goreng, nasi goreng, satay, several kinds of sambal and desserts. The chef will share the secrets of local recipes and show you how to combine spices and handle the ingredients. No experience is needed, and the menu can be adapted to your preferences and dietary restrictions.

The class works well for groups of friends or families as well as for anyone coming on their own — it's a good reason to spend time together or meet new people. It ends with a lunch made up of the dishes you cooked during the class. As a keepsake, participants receive a recipe book and a certificate, and afterwards you can stay on the beach or take a swim in the pool.
MyBaliTrips will take care of all the arrangements — all you have to do is show up and enjoy the experience.
