The Bali Meteorological Agency (BBMKG) has reported that a developing tropical cyclone, mysteriously named 96S, located in the Indian Ocean, is responsible for the adverse weather conditions on the island. This system is generating strong winds of up to 54 km/h and powerful waves reaching 3.5 meters. These conditions are expected to persist from February 9 to 11, 2025. In addition to strong winds, Bali will experience cloudiness and rainfall, ranging from light to moderate intensity.
The head of the Operational Meteorological Task Force stated that the cyclone could further intensify winds and increase wave heights in Balis southern waters. BBMKG has issued a storm warning for the region.

Meanwhile, the strong winds have already caused damage in several parts of the island. In Jembrana, for instance, roofs of 30 houses in four villages were damaged. In Banjar Arum, one house completely collapsed, while others sustained varying degrees of damage. Residents are working together to repair damaged roofs. Additionally, falling trees in the forests near Gilimanuk have caused traffic congestion on the Denpasar-Gilimanuk road. Another tree fell on Ngurah Rai Highway, near the airport.

Falling large trees continue to cause casualties. In Karangasem, a massive tree collapsed onto a cockfighting arena, injuring five people, who were rushed to the hospital, while three others did not survive. Please remain cautious – even large trees are struggling to withstand the continuous strong winds.
BBMKG urges everyone to stay updated on changing weather conditions and monitor weather forecasts, particularly concerning strong winds and high waves that may impact safety and daily activities. Keep in mind that riding a motorbike in strong crosswinds can be dangerous, especially if you are inexperienced and the wind is gusty.
