Bali is Gearing up to Host the Climbing World Cup in 2025!

The Indonesian Climbing Federation (FPTI) has selected Bali as a potential venue for the 2025 Climbing World Cup. This decision is largely influenced by the island's accessibility for international athletes, thanks to its international airport. Hosting such a major event in Bali is seen as a key step in promoting sports tourism on the island and showcasing the region's potential for active recreation. Following Bali, the Climbing World Cup is expected to be held in other regions of Indonesia, further expanding the sport's reach.

Advantages of Bali as a Host

Bali has long been one of Indonesia's top tourist destinations, and hosting the Climbing World Cup will further demonstrate the island's capabilities for hosting international sporting events. Bali’s unique natural landscapes provide an ideal setting for world-class competitions. Its cliffs, beaches, and tropical forests could serve not only as competition venues but also as recreational spaces for athletes and spectators.
Ngurah Rai International Airport, located near the island's main tourist areas, offers easy access for participants and visitors, meeting the international climbing federation's requirements for accessibility and comfort. Bali also boasts numerous hotels, restaurants, and tourist infrastructure, making it an attractive location for an event of this scale.

Infrastructure Preparation

While Bali has many advantages, significant preparation is needed to host the Climbing World Cup. The main challenge will be creating the necessary conditions for the competition, including the construction and modernization of climbing facilities and ensuring safety for participants and spectators. FPTI and local authorities have already begun working on this, exploring investment opportunities to develop sports infrastructure.
Bali offers several unique climbing spots, including limestone cliffs and inland rock formations. These locations provide diverse routes for all levels of climbers, from beginners to seasoned athletes. The areas are known for their scenic landscapes, featuring rice terraces and dense jungles. For instance, Canggu offers both equipped climbing walls and natural rock formations.

Current Climbing Spots in Bali:

- Bali Climbing (Canggu):  A popular bouldering gym in Canggu with equipped walls and professional instructors, suitable for all levels. The center also organizes outdoor climbing sessions.
- Monk Climbing Gym (Ubud): A small climbing gym in Ubud offering routes for all skill levels, from beginners to advanced climbers.
- Bali Adventure Climbing (Kintamani): Located near Mount Batur in Kintamani, this spot offers natural rock formations of varying difficulty with breathtaking views.
Bali is already on its way to becoming a prominent hub for both local and international climbers, and the upcoming Climbing World Cup is expected to further enhance its reputation.
