Bali is preparing for the 48th Bali Arts Festival — Pesta Kesenian Bali. It will take place in Denpasar from 13 June to 11 July 2026 and will bring together around 20,000 artists from Bali, other regions of Indonesia, and abroad.

This is one of the island’s main cultural festivals. For almost a month, Denpasar will host dances, concerts, competitions, exhibitions, workshops, talks and parades. The main venue is Taman Werdhi Budaya Art Center, but some events will also take place at other locations around the city, including the Bajra Sandhi Monument and
This year’s theme is Atma Kerthi: Jiwa Sidha Parisudha. It is about purifying and elevating the soul. For visitors, it means a large programme featuring Balinese dance, music, crafts and performances by communities from across the island.
The organisers also promise to spread crowds around the Art Center so people don’t gather only at the main stage. At the most popular events, they plan to add extra seating and screens. These include competitions of Balinese percussion orchestras, Barong performances and gong kebyar ensembles.
Waste is also being discussed. Food vendors are expected to be asked to use less single-use packaging, and visitors to eat on site and not leave litter around the venue. The Art Center is also getting its toilets and grounds ready for the festival.
