Astra Credit Companies (ACC) has planted 1,000 mangrove seedlings in the Mangrove Arboretum Park in Denpasar. The park is located near the toll road entrance from Sanur.
ACC’s Chief Operating Officer, Devi Santoso Jayadi, stated that this initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions, as mangrove trees are highly efficient at absorbing carbon—three to five times more than regular trees.
The planted species, Rhizophora Mucronata, not only help prevent coastal erosion but also contribute to the restoration of mangrove ecosystems.
Devi emphasized that ACC is strengthening the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in its operations. In 2024, the company expanded its environmental initiatives and launched new projects.
• ACC reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 17.54% (compared to 14.44% in 2023).
• The share of renewable energy use increased to 26.19%, a 30% growth from the previous year.
• These achievements were made possible by installing solar panels at two ACC branches in Tangerang and Yogyakarta, obtaining REC certification, and replacing traditional lighting with energy-efficient LED lamps in several offices.
Additionally, the company optimized groundwater usage by implementing a wastewater recycling system for plant irrigation, reducing water consumption by 10.3%. ACC also launched solid waste recycling programs in 25 of its branches, with nine of them achieving zero-waste status. The total amount of recycled waste reached 23.52%.
This demonstrates that many companies in the country are taking steps to care for the environment. For large organizations, these initiatives require significant financial investments, but they are also within the reach of many other businesses in Bali.
It is great when a company generates profit, but even better when it contributes to environmental sustainability. After all, we all want Bali to remain a beautiful, thriving, and clean island for generations to come.
