Ascent to Mount Agung is Possible Again

After a sacred month-long closure for the Ida Batara Turun Kabeh ceremony at the Besakih temple, the highest peak in Bali (3142 m) is once again open to adventurers!
Ever dreamed of standing above the clouds at sunrise? Now's your chance. The trail is challenging — but the view? Absolutely unforgettable.
🌋 Agung is an active volcano and a sacred mountain for locals. Its last eruption was recorded from 2017 to 2019. Now the volcano is stable and safe to visit. 🙌
What awaits you during the ascent?
▫️ Climbing Agung is significantly more challenging than the routes on Batur or Ijen, requiring good physical fitness.
▫️ The 14.5 km route takes about 6 to 8 hours one way. The first two thirds of the path are covered in about 2 hours, with the hardest part ahead in the final section.
▫️ The final stretch is a climb at an angle of up to 60 degrees on a slippery rocky slope with an altitude gain of about 1900 meters.
▫️ You will witness the sunrise at the summit, where you'll have about an hour to rest, enjoy the panoramic views, and take photos.
▫️ The descent takes about 6.5 to 7.5 hours, and a driver will meet you at the end of the route.
▫️ Solo climbing is strictly prohibited due to the high risk and difficulty of the route, especially at night.
It's a serious challenge, but believe me — the magnificent sunrise at Agung is worth every effort! Honestly assess your capabilities and join this unforgettable adventure.
