The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights of Indonesia has officially launched the Immigration Patrol (Satgas Patroli Imigrasi) in Bali— a special unit of 100 officers who will monitor the activities of foreign citizens on the island around the clock.

Initially, the patrol will focus on 10 main locations where the concentration of foreigners is highest. Officers of the new unit can already be found in Canggu, Seminyak, Kerobokan, beaches in Sanur (Matahari Terbit and Mertasari), Benoa Harbor, Uluwatu, Bingin, Nusa Dua, Ubud, and Jimbaran.
All patrol officers are equipped with bulletproof vests and body cameras, and they will be on duty in both cars and motorcycles, outfitted with flashing lights and loudspeakers. They will be assisted by other security forces— the police, military (TNI), and pecalang (village representatives).

“Foreigners breaking the law will no longer be able to hide. We are creating a system that sees and reacts in real-time,” stated the Minister of Justice and Human Rights of Indonesia, Yasonna H. Laoly.
Officers will be able to check documents, visa status, track complaints from local residents, and even monitor foreigners' behavior on social media. All actions of the patrol will be recorded on a camera and transferred to a centralized database.
This does not mean total control over every tourist, noted the Ministry of Justice, but they emphasize: "If you live in Bali—follow the rules."
The rise in crime, including fraud, visa violations, hooliganism, and even armed assaults, has become an alarming signal for the authorities.

“Bali should not become a haven for 'bule’,” added Laoly— “We must protect the dignity and culture of the local population.”
The authorities have also established cooperation with traditional communities to improve control efficiency. Digital platforms have been introduced to quickly receive information from locals about violations by foreigners.
“We want tourists to feel safe but also respect Bali's laws and customs,” emphasized Bali Governor Wayan Koster.
