A Tourist Deported After Violating Local Resident

The immigration office in Denpasar deported a US citizen. He was guilty of attacking a local resident.

The American with the initials MZ was deported from Bali through the international airport on a Qantas Airways flight to the USA with a layover in Sydney. He purchased the ticket at his own expense.

Earlier, a video from surveillance cameras appeared on the Internet showing a foreigner attacking and beating a villa security guard in Gianyar. The blows were quite serious, and the victim sustained multiple bruises and even lost a tooth.

MZ came to the villa to retrieve belongings for his friend who was staying there. The friend couldn't do it himself as he was in the hospital after a motorcycle accident. The transportation was rented at this villa. Staff refused to return the belongings, explaining that the motorcycle had not yet been returned, and the items would remain at the villa as collateral. Then, according to the villa's security guard, MZ began beating him without any unnecessary words. The American's girlfriend intervened to stop the beating, after which they both left.

The victim reported to the police. After that, 28-year-old MZ was found in the Nusa Dua area and arrested. The enraged foreigner hit the head of the Gianyar police criminal investigation department, M. Gananta, during the arrest.

The head of the Denpasar immigration office, Tedi Riyandi, stated that his staff continue to monitor and closely observe foreigners living in Indonesia, especially in Bali. He reminded that if foreigners are found to be violating the rules, measures will be taken against them, including deportation.
