A Foreigner Braved the Waters to Ride his Bike from Lembongan to Ceningan!

A video has gone viral showing a foreigner trying to manually transport a bike by wading between Lembongan and Ceningan islands.
Nusa Penida Police Chief Ida Bagus Putra Sumerta commented on the situation: “In the morning, the sea water usually recedes, and it rises after noon. The foreigner used this basic knowledge to choose the optimal time.”
It seems the foreigner was desperate because the Yellow Bridge, the only transportation link between the two islands, was closed for repairs. Sumerta explained that the foreigner had stopped in Ceningan and was supposed to go to Nusa Lembongan. However, he couldn’t cross the Yellow Bridge as it was under maintenance.
“Locals who want to transport their bikes can use boat services, but the foreigner apparently didn’t want to spend money,” Sumerta clarified. The cost for this service is about 100,000 rupiah.
I Made Jati Laksana, Head of the Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, and Settlements Agency of Klungkung, reported that the Yellow Bridge repair began on Monday and is nearing completion. He added that the work is part of scheduled maintenance with a budget of 200 million rupiah.
According to Jati, Klungkung authorities have asked residents and tourists to use alternative routes during the Yellow Bridge repairs. It’s important to note that equipment doesn’t handle saltwater well, and you might not make it to the other side if the tide comes in. We do not recommend repeating this maneuver.
