In Tibubeneng, near Canggu, Badung Police have launched the Digital Jagabaya programme — a street monitoring system using cameras.
A total of 69 CCTV cameras have been installed in the village. They are located at 28 points that the police describe as strategic.

Tibubeneng is part of the North Kuta district and in recent years has become one of the busiest areas near Canggu, with many tourists, residents, villa staff, cafes, hotels and other businesses. Police say the cameras have been introduced because of increasing traffic and the need to respond more quickly to incidents.
Badung Police Chief Joseph Edward Purba said the cameras are not only needed for monitoring. According to him, they should help identify situations that could disturb public order at an earlier stage and investigate incidents that have already occurred more quickly.
Digital Jagabaya is a digital version of the local public order system. It has been expanded with a camera network and police work using the footage obtained. Police have also asked residents to take care of the equipment.
