Our breath and proper breathing techniques are the key to health, vigor, calmness of mind and emotional equanimity in life. It prepares the body and mind to more easily access deeper states of meditation and is essential on the path to deepening the practice of yoga. We can use Pranayama techniques to loosen overactive emotions as they arise, as well as gently uncover and release old, stuck emotions.
This workshop covers the basic principles, effects, contraindications, and proper techniques of various classical hatha yoga pranayamas for beginners and intermediate levels. We will explore cooling and calming breathing techniques to help ease and release feelings such as anger; warming, active techniques to release feelings such as lethargy and depression; grounding techniques for when you feel absent or restless; and general balance techniques. Come breathe your way to bliss!
Greg has been teaching and practicing yoga since 2004 with many great masters around the world. Drawing on deep knowledge and experience from many traditions, as well as his own well-developed intuition, Greg nonchalantly adapts each class, technique, and moment to the needs of his students. His deepest desire is for each of us to realize our innate beauty and experience fulfillment; not as a concept of the future, but as the full acceptance and embodiment of our own unique spirit in the present moment.
