Warning about illegal work in Bali

To work in Indonesia, a foreigner must have a work visa (KITAS). Moreover, this visa is tied to a specific company and a specific type of activity. In other words, it's not possible to engage in any activity under one visa.
If you are caught working without a visa by immigration officials, the minimum consequence is a fine, while the maximum consequence is a fine (if you cannot pay, then imprisonment) and deportation from Indonesia with a ban on re-entry for several years.
In this sense, it is quite dangerous to work without a KITAS as a surf instructor, photographer, real estate agent, or guide. Such precedents have already occurred, and not just once.
So, be cautious or, ideally, obtain a work visa.
To obtain and extend Indonesian visas, we recommend the agency Legal Indonesia.
