📍 Map point: Pura Taman Ayun. Let's go!
The temple is very beautiful with well-maintained grounds and spacious. The area is surrounded by water and inside, besides the buildings, there is a small park where you can rest in the shade of trees. After walking around the temple, you will reach pavilions with paintings and a cinema. They show a film about the temple and the kingdom of Mengwi. There's also an exit to a pavilion where cockfights are shown and a small café. There are no guide services, but you can ask for a brochure at the ticket office.
Within walking distance is the museum 📍 The Ogoh Ogoh Bali Museum.
If you didn't get to attend the Ogoh-Ogoh parade, you can see some sculptures here and appreciate the detail and size! They look creepy but impressive.
After the museum, head to 📍Lumbung view — a spot with rice terraces. Not the most beautiful in Bali, but the roads to it are quite scenic. Around are lush green fields and good asphalt.
On the way, you can stop at the café 📍Makoe Bali. Spacious, good cuisine. The price for one dish + coffee = 95k.
Bonus point 📍Pantai Soan Galuh. It is a very unkempt beach where you can take cool shots with huge rocks on the ocean shore, walk through a cave to the other half of the beach, and ride on swings hidden behind a cliff. Plus, a light training of bike control on easy off-road, as the approach to the beach is bad (rocks, sand).
Unfortunately, the beach itself is dirty, but you can make a contribution by taking a couple of bottles/plastic to the nearest trash can 🙏
Finally, we head to the beach 📍Pantai Pasut - a place where you can ride a bike on the sand. It will be unfamiliar to beginners to ride on such a surface, so be very careful.
But the shots are very atmospheric, especially at sunset! Black sand, ocean, sunset, bike... Freedom!
After such impressions with cool content, we head home 🤟
