The Pura Luhur Lempuyang Temple, known as the Gate of Heaven, is closed from April 23 to 27 due to the religious ceremonies of pujawali (the holy place's birthday). Only Hindu believers are allowed to attend.

The most famous part of the complex is the Candi Bentar gate, offering views of the Agung volcano. The photos taken here are captivating: symmetrical gates, reflection (created using a mirror), and the majestic volcano in the distance. These photos went viral on Instagram, attracting a large number of visitors to the temple.
Nyoman Jati, head of the Purwayu village in Karangasem district, reported: 'We are suspending tourist visits so our people can focus on prayers.' He also confirmed that this information was communicated to travel agencies and guides around the island to adjust their routes. On April 28, Lempuyang will reopen for visitors who do not adhere to Balinese Hinduism.

Tourists in Bali should also know that Mount Agung is closed for visits until May 3, 2025. It is considered a dwelling place of the gods, and the absence of people on its slopes allows the gods to arrive in the world of humans without hindrance.
