A motorbike taxi ride through dense jungle takes you to the foot of the mountains, where the walking trail to the legendary village of Wae Rebo begins. After several hours of trekking, the famous cone-shaped Mbaru Niang houses appear among the misty ridges.
The evening is spent enjoying a traditional dinner with local residents, followed by a night in one of the traditional houses, where ancient customs remain part of everyday life.
After descending from the mountains, the road leads to the limestone cave of Liang Bua, where archaeologists discovered the remains of Flores Man (Homo floresiensis) — one of the most famous archaeological finds of the 21st century.
After a rest in the cosy mountain town of Ruteng, the journey continues to the Lingko rice fields, which look like a giant spider’s web from above thanks to the ancient land division system of the Manggarai people.
On the way back to Labuan Bajo, you can cool off in the refreshing waters of the hidden Cunca Plias waterfall, before ending the trip with sunset on Sylvia Hill, with panoramic views of the bays, green hills, and scattered islands off the coast of Flores.
MyBaliTrips will take care of the entire trip organisation, so all you have to do is enjoy every moment and discover Flores in all its beauty.
