Crocodile Found in Central Denpasar, Safely Secured by Officials

There are still animals in Bali whose discovery can shock even the locals. Last evening, residents of Denpasar found a live crocodile in a drainage ditch on Tukad Badung Street. Specialists were called to the scene immediately.

In a video recorded by witnesses, the reptile appears as frightened as the people. The crocodile runs through the ditch, trying to hide but failing to do so.
As reported by Denpasar's Head of Fire and Rescue, I Made Tirana, a call from anxious residents was received at 20:21 local time.
"It was a Siamese crocodile, about one meter long. Our team, with the support of local residents, captured and evacuated it. The operation took about 30 minutes," commented I Made Tirana.
The main question remains unanswered: how did the crocodile end up in the city's drainage system?
According to Tirana, the reptile had no owner and was not registered as a pet. No reports of a missing crocodile were received from the local residents.
This led to rumors that the crocodile could have escaped from a private property or was even a wild inhabitant of the local water bodies, forced to seek new shelter due to heavy rains or problems in its natural habitat.
Eventually, the runaway "guest" was handed over to the Bali Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA Bali) for rehabilitation and determination of its future.
