Gili Meno's Submarine Masterpiece: Art Alive in the Ocean's Depths.

At a depth of 4 meters off the coast of Gili Meno, a tiny island near Bali, sculptor and underwater photographer Jason deCaires Taylor created a unique work of art - Nest or 'Гнездо' in Russian.
This underwater installation was designed to highlight the need for coral reef protection. Jason deCaires Taylor has placed similar sculptures around the world.
What does the sculpture represent?
Nest consists of a circle of 48 life-size sculptures. This circle symbolizes the cycle of life and the passage of time. Over time, the sculptures become part of the underwater world: coral begins to grow on them, creating a new reef. The statues are made of a special pH-neutral cement that accelerates coral growth and supports marine life.
Visiting Nest is not only an opportunity to experience art and witness nature gradually embracing the sculptures, but also a chance to enjoy the incredible beauty of the underwater world. The water off the coast of Gili Meno is clear, and the sunlight that penetrates the surface creates a magical play of light and shadow around the sculptures. This place is ideal for snorkeling and underwater photography: photos with the circular sculpture and growing corals in the background are truly breathtaking.
You can reach the sculpture by swimming from the beach or using boats available on Gili Meno island.
We also offer organized tours to the islands of Gili Air or Gili Trawangan, which include transfers, accommodation, and snorkeling in the most beautiful places, including Nest.
