In the first seven months of the year, the island recorded almost six times fewer dengue cases than a year earlier. Even so, the authorities are keeping up preventive work and urging residents not to let their guard down.
Between January and July 2026, Bali recorded 1,588 cases of dengue fever. Over the same period last year there were 9,116 — a drop of about 82.6%. Deaths have fallen as well: there were 13 in all of 2025, while two had been recorded by the middle of 2026.
The decline is also visible at the district level. In Badung, the number of cases fell from 63 in January to 28 in August. In Denpasar the difference from last year is significant too: the city logged 162 cases in the first seven months of this year, compared with 1,197 over the same period in 2025.
Despite the positive trend, the Denpasar Health Department is continuing its campaign against mosquitoes. Through the end of the year it will carry out ULV fogging — treating areas with a special cold aerosol that kills adult mosquitoes.
In September, these treatments will be carried out on streets, in parks, at sports grounds and in other public areas. At the same time, the authorities stress that fogging alone is not enough.
Residents are urged to take preventive steps at home at least once a week — clearing away spots where water can collect, covering any containers, and disposing of unnecessary items in which conditions for mosquito breeding can appear after rain.
For now the figures look encouraging: there is far less dengue in Bali than a year ago. But the authorities have no plans to scale back prevention.
