Siloam Hospitals Bali has launched knee replacement surgery using the CORI robotic system. The hospital says this is the first service of its kind in Bali and Eastern Indonesia using this technology.

This is a total knee replacement, a procedure usually performed in cases of severe arthritis, chronic pain and serious movement restriction, when non-surgical treatment no longer helps.
CORI assists the doctor during surgery by creating a real-time 3D map of the knee, helping to choose the implant size and position more accurately, and calculating how to work with the bone and ligaments.
Siloam also says patients recover more quickly after these operations. This is linked to more precise implant placement and less tissue damage. However, the outcome depends not only on the technology, but also on the patient’s condition and rehabilitation.
All decisions during the operation remain with the doctor, while the robotic system provides more accurate data on the anatomy of each individual patient. The hospital says the technology may be useful for patients with severe knee joint damage, including older people and those who have been living with knee pain for a long time.
In Indonesian clinics, robotic knee replacement surgery costs around IDR 150 million to 250 million for one knee. The final amount depends on the type of implant, the scope of the operation, the hospital room and the patient’s condition.
