Sangeh Monkey Forest in Badung (not to be confused with the 'monkey forest' in Ubud) is preparing a new way to 'delve deeper' into the jungle.

The administration plans to add a walking path in the western, sparsely visited part of the nutmeg forest. The route is intended to be laid behind the Pura Pucak Sari temple and lead to the existing trail along the cliff, offering views of the cliffs and the Tukad Yeh Penet river. The idea is to open up areas to guests that tourists hardly ever reached before.
Currently, most visitors to Sangeh walk through the central and eastern parts of the area: they typically enter near Pura Pucak Sari, follow the 'eastern' loop, and exit through the eastern gate. The new passage is expected to shift the flow towards the more 'quiet' part of the forest and add natural scenery of the river valley to the walk.
At the same time, the site is being 'reorganized' from a logistical perspective for guests and local entrepreneurs: the entrance and trading rows will be renovated, and kiosks moved closer to the western parking area. This is planned to take about 24 months.
The park is home to over 700 long-tailed macaques, and the administration reminds visitors of the basic rules of conduct: do not touch the animals, do not provoke them, and follow the instructions of the guides — this is important for the safety of both people and the monkeys.
