A cozy family cafe with amazing French cuisine
Atmosphere:
If I ever opened a cafe, I would dream of only this - a place where a home atmosphere and great food are combined. A place where you feel so relaxed, as if you were having breakfast on a sunny country veranda outside the city, and on your plate you have something so delicious and beautiful, as if your grandmother at least completed Le Cordon Bleu courses.
The French-Indonesian couple Yen and Jean have a classic French culinary education, and their own successful restaurant in France. They decided to move to Bali to have time to combine their favorite work and time with their family and children. And in their cafe you can really feel this cozy home atmosphere - friends come to visit every day, children come running after school, families gather around a large table to have breakfast together.
An open space with floor-to-ceiling windows, a Provencal atmosphere, a children's corner with toys and coloring books, cozy sofas, small tables for two and a large wooden table, and even a field for playing petanque, a favorite game of the French - it seems there is a place for absolutely any company. During breakfast and lunch it can be crowded, with many expats and regular guests.
A large open kitchen, a friendly, cheerful team - everyone feels at home here, there are no taxes or fees, but if you put a little money in the tip box, all the employees will loudly and unanimously thank you.
Cuisine:
The cuisine is mostly based on regional products. In addition to imported meat and cheese, everything is brought fresh from the morning market in Bedugul. Every day there is a new dish of the day - it depends on the chef's inspiration and the most seasonal products.
The menu includes French classics - hearty breakfasts with freshly baked goods, homemade jams and honey. Panini on homemade bread (there are even some with snails), fruit granolas, all sorts of variations of dishes with eggs, and of course real French toast. An excellent selection of salads - hearty (huge portions), with excellent dressings and sauces, with options for vegetarians.
And of course desserts - airy Pavlova, meringues, apple creams and chocolate mousses, those with a sweet tooth will find something to treat themselves to.
In the near future, the cafe will start working in the evening - for dinner they offer a 300 gram portion of real shashlik on skewers from any type of meat or tuna, with delicious sauces and side dishes.
Drinks:
The cafe originally opened as a tea room with desserts (Gouthe is translated from French not only as "taste" and "delicious", but also something like an analogue of the English "tea time" - a time when a family gathers at the table to drink tea and chat), so there is a wonderful selection of loose teas, with fresh herbs and fruits, cold and hot. Smoothies, juices, kombucha, and of course delicious hot coffee and chocolate.
