Pinggan Village is located on the northern edge of the outer large caldera of Mount Batur. It's better to reach it by driving around the rim of the caldera rather than climbing up from Lake Batur.
The climb from Batur will be steep, and the road is not always in good condition. If you go around the western and then northern parts, the road also has turns, but the pavement is newer. In any case, make sure to check the condition of your bike's brakes. Pinggan Village is situated at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level. It is believed that the village was established when a Chinese merchant's family settled here.
It's best to visit at dawn to enjoy the view similar to that seen by those who conquer Batur, but without the need to climb. Dawn starts around 6 a.m. But it's better to arrive around 5 a.m. to find the most beautiful and suitable spot for photography.
